Realms of Pugmire Update (June 2018)

Hello all you good dogs and excellent cats! Now that we have three Kickstarters related to the Realms of Pugmire, I'll be doing my usual monthly updates for all three at once. If we have updates related to a specific Kickstarter campaign, you'll still see those separately. However, we've heard so many fans want to be aware of all the Pugmire and Mau things, so now it's all in one place!

FETCH QUEST!

Our Kickstarter for Fetch Quest, the Pugmire deck-building game, was quite a success! We hit 350% of our goals, unlocking cat pioneer cards and the ability for people to make their own Fetch Quest cards through Canis Minor. Thanks to everyone who backed, and if you didn't, we'll have pre-orders up via BackerKit soon!

PROJECT STATUS

Here's the status of all the Pugmire-related projects we can talk about, drawn directly from our meeting notes on Monday!

WHAT'S NEXT FOR THE REALMS OF PUGMIRE?

Now that Fetch Quest is done, and we're getting good momentum on the Mau stretch goal projects, Onyx Path and Pugsteady have launched into the next phase of negotiations -- or, in other words, Rich and I got onto Skype and kicked around ideas for a while. I have an outline to write and some research to do, but no details yet. But as soon as we're ready to announce something, we'll make sure all our Realms of Pugmire fans are told!

Meanwhile, At Our Current Kickstarter:

On Monday, July 2nd, 12 noon Eastern US time, we start the Kickstarter for Geist: The Sin-Eaters 2nd Edition for Chronicles of Darkness! If the very brief bit of info below sounds interesting, we'll have a lot more when the KS goes live - love to see you there!

In Geist: The Sin-Eaters, you play a person who died with a powerful burden on their soul — something they didn't accomplish in life, or something they never found. On the other side of the veil, they made a bargain with a powerful being called a geist, which returned them to the world of the living and to their own body, at the cost of a permanent bond between them and the geist. Now your character stands as a medium, with one foot in the world of the living and one in the world of the dead.

Mau Backer PDF Links Being Sent Out!
almost 6 years ago – Thu, May 31, 2018 at 11:01:19 PM

Hello Monarchies of Mau Backers!

RichT here:

Your Monarchies of Mau Backer PDF links are being sent out right now via BackerKit. We are still awaiting some art and the maps, which we'll put in when we're inputting any errata you note, as described below. Then we'll get an index made and you'll be able to re-download the Mau PDF to your DTRPG Library with everything finalized. From that file we'll create the PoD printing and traditional printing files.

Here's the message that accompanies the link:

"Above is your Monarchies of Mau Backer PDF link

Since we are using our partners at DriveThruRPG as the host for this, you will need to set up a DriveThru account if you don't have one already.

Please post any errata you may find to the thread devoted to it on our Pugmire forums, here, so we can tweak the PDF before updating it for backers and offering it for sale to the general public: http://forum.theonyxpath.com/forum/main-category/cavaliers-of-mars-and-pugmire/1223685-monarchies-of-mau-errata-thread

As noted in our KS Updates, there are still gaps in this version that are awaiting art and maps, so please do not feel the need to note these for us in the errata.

If you encounter any problems with downloading your rewards, please contact DTRPG's customer service to resolve the matter, they've always been top-rated for customer service. http://www.drivethrurpg.com/contact_us.php

Thanks again for your support and enjoy your Monarchies of Mau Backer PDF!"

Here's a message from Eddy about this happy occasion:

Hey all! As promised during the Kickstarter campaign last year, we planned to deliver the digital version this month, give a little time for eagle-eyed backers to catch typos and other minor mistakes we might have missed, and then send the files off to the printer. However, with the art being a bit behind, and after discussing it with Rich, we've agreed that we'll go ahead and send out the book now minus some of the art when it's laid out, rather than waiting any longer for the release. This still gives everyone a chance to get to playing in the time frame we agreed to, and allows us more time to collect those typos and other minor errata.

You'll still get the final, complete PDF in addition to this "beta" release. Also, none of this currently puts the due date for the printed books at risk. We just want to make sure you can get to playing cats as soon as possible!

A Note About Our Current Kickstarter Project - Now With Cat Adventurers!

Right now, our Kickstarter for Fetch Quest, a family friendly deck-building card game set in the Realms of Pugmire, is running on all four legs. We funded in less than a day and are now approaching our second Stretch Goal to add cats from the Monarchies of Mau to the starting characters available to take on the Fetch Quest.

If you haven't yet, please come check out Fetch Quest here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/200664283/fetch-quest-a-deck-building-game-in-the-realms-of

Any backer can download a print-n-play version so that you can get started right away retrieving those treasures that Man has left behind!

Fetch Quest Kickstarter is Live!
almost 6 years ago – Thu, May 24, 2018 at 01:57:26 AM

Hello Excellent Cats!

Eddy:

I've been mentioning it for months, and now the Kickstarter is here! It's time to fetch what Man has left behind -- Fetch Quest!

Fetch Quest is a family-friendly cooperative deck-building game. Each player represents a pioneer on a dangerous quest. The pioneers work together to overcome dangerous challenges and resolve missions. Once the missions are resolved, the quest is finished and the players win the game. We're running this Kickstarter to get additional new art for the cards and get the project printed in a form we can put into stores.

Go check out the Kickstarter here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/200664283/fetch-quest-a-deck-building-game-in-the-realms-of

And if you want to learn more about the game, I go through all the rules here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDKnKAtmTxI

We're already close to funding, but we can use all the help we can get. Even after we fund, we want to dig into building our "booster pack" of cards, including adding cat pioneers from the Monarchies of Mau and a new quest deck to discover the secret of Vinsen's tomb.

Thanks!

May Mau Update
about 6 years ago – Fri, May 04, 2018 at 10:45:44 PM

Eddy:

Hello, excellent cats. You look very fluffy and/or shiny today. Some exciting updates for you this month!

MAU LAYOUT CONTINUES Some of our preferred artists were busy, so we reached out to some new ones to give us some picture purr-fect art for the book. So, we're a little behind, but layout is ongoing. In fact, I just looked at the character creation chapter (one of the hardest ones to lay out), and it's looking great! It definitely inherits a lot of structure and background aesthetics from Pugmire, but Michael Chaney has added a lot of tweaks, changes, and downright cool elements to really make this book appropriate for our amazing cat characters.

ANTHOLOGY AND OTHER STRETCH GOALS The Mau anthology is underway! I've already chatted with both Joseph Carriker and Monica Valentinelli about some background details for their stories, and they have some incredible cool ideas. The other writers have, I believe, all been approached, so I'm looking forward to seeing all the pitches. We've also started working on the other stretch goals. I'm in the process of hiring a developer for the Roll of Good Dogs and Excellent Cats, and I'll likely be handling the adventure collection myself as developer. We'll work on dice, screens, and the like once we have the book further along (we need to coordinate with the printer), but they're definitely on our radar.

YOUR FETCH QUEST STARTS ON MAY 22ND!

I've been talking about it for months now, but the Kickstarter for Fetch Quest is finally coming on May 22nd!

In case you haven't heard, Fetch Quest is a family-friendly cooperative deck-building game. Each player represents a pioneer, one of six adventurous dogs on a dangerous quest. The pioneers work together to overcome dangerous challenges and resolve missions. Once the missions are resolved, the quest is finished and the players win the game.

I really want to make a card game that allows people to experience the realms of Pugmire in a new way. Fetch Quest is portable, easy to learn, and encourages cooperation and teamwork. Not only does it seem to be a fun game in its own right, but I hope it'll be a great product to play when you don't have time for a session of the Pugmire RPG, or to get new players excited about Pugmire as a whole.

And we haven't forgotten about you, our cat friends. I may be getting ahead of things, but one of the stretch goals I have planned is to allow you to play cats instead of (or with) dog characters. Dogs and cats playing together? Mark your calendars!

Eddy:

Hello, excellent cats! Some exciting updates for you this month!

OFF TO LAYOUT! The always-amazing Dixie Cochran turned Mau around ahead of schedule, and I was able to review it and make a few more tweaks of my own before passing it along to layout. This is a huge milestone, because not only are we on track to get everyone the beta PDF out in May, but also I can get started on the remaining stretch goals. The next few months are going to be purr-fect.

MEET MELANIE MEADORS! Speaking of stretch goals, Melaine Meadors has agreed to be the editor of the Monarchies of Mau anthology! We've already had some great talks, and she's started chatting with our featured authors from the Kickstarter (Joseph Carriker and Monica Valentinelli). She's also lining up some more fantastic authors, and hopefully we'll have a few surprises to share with you soon!

Here's a little something about Melanie: Melanie R. Meadors is the author of fantasy stories where heroes don't always carry swords and knights in shining armor often lose to nerds who study their weaknesses. Her fiction has appeared in Circle Magazine, Prick of the Spindle, and in the anthologies Champions of Aetaltis and Kaiju Rising 2: Reign of Monsters. Melanie also edits anthologies, including MECH: Age of Steel, Hath No Fury, and the upcoming Knaves: A Blackguards Anthology. She is a blogger and general b*tch monkey at The Once and Future Podcast. You can find out more about her at her website, www.melaniermeadors.com.

FETCH QUEST! We're deep in final Kickstarter preparations for Fetch Quest, the Pugmire and Monarchies of Mau cooperative card game. I'm excited (and nervous) for the project, and we'll definitely let you all know as soon as we're ready to go. Although it's Pugmire-focused, one of the early stretch goals will allow you to replace the default dog characters with cats, so we're not planning to leave our excellent cats out of the fun.

Meanwhile in a very different game world:

Last week we started our latest Kickstarter campaign, for the Dragon-Blooded: What Fire Has Wrought source book, or "fatsplat" book, for the Exalted 3rd Edition game line.

Dragon-Blooded: What Fire Has Wrought introduces the Dragon-Blooded in 3rd Edition and all the rules necessary to feature them as player characters or NPC antagonists, including character creation rules and the element-based Dragon-Blooded Charm set of powers. This book will give an iconic view of the Dragon-Blooded, from their mythic origins as the armies of the gods to their place in the current era.

Because we made sure that the complete text for this book was finished before we ran Dragon-Blooded's KS, we can provide one quarter (more or less) of the book's text to backers each week of the campaign and get their feedback along the way. (Plus, if a backer doesn't like the text, they can cancel their pledge before the KS is over). This is the first big book for our new dev team, and judging by what we're hearing, it seems they've knocked the (fire)ball out of the park with this one!

So if that sounds interesting, please check it out here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/200664283/dragon-blooded-what-fire-has-wrought-for-exalted-3
